For all the gripes and rants and complaining we do, we still play the game eh? It's like when Bridger attracted all the trolls during his vacation in New Hampshire; if they're bitching at you it means you're doing something right.

Look at the flaccidly boring games like SupCom and C&C3. All three sides are the same for both games, with the same inherent strategies dominating the fields as a result (omg spam titan units). CoH has revived my once dying faith in the game industry, proving that innovation still exists and that I can still get excited about playing a video game in a field that's just filled to the brim with clones, sequels, and craptastic movie tie-in titles.

If I were Relic I would be heartily emboldened by the fact that people like EnglishMuffin have "taken to arms" so fervently over our game.

It does take time, why? Because they cannot put enough resources on the online components to get it done faster. They simply will not fill up the team with a full team that could bang it out in a month. Why is that? It's because the game industry is dominated by people who play single player games. We are not the main demographic of gamers. How can THQ justify spending lots of time and resources making the online experience "perfect" when only 10% of the audience uses it? They know they do need at least a *working* online system, and that's what we have. THQ and relic went father though, they put in automatch and profile systems and have been tweaking the reporting and such to make it better.

But again, they cannot justify taking any more resources off the coding of the next game to fix the current system. It will get fixed, just slower, because there's less people working on it than there might be. And there's nothing wrong with that IMHO. I have no counter-argument other than "but i want it!" to justify telling them to "waste" money on us.

Hay Englishmuffin look. Relic is a small company, I believe that the people that work on COH work on Warhammer and other Relic games. They couldn't of coppied Blizzard's because, well that is copyright infringement and not good. Blizzard wasn't perfect at first but now it is good. Everyone wants things to be perfect immediately and when they aren't done in 3 seconds that person sucks. All we do is want want want. Just sitback and wait. Arrange Teams are coming with OF and other things we want, it just takes time.

I do understand the game industry very well. I know that it is crowded and hard to get into now. A lot of companies need to make money so they pump out game after game hoping that people will buy. There are publishers and developers. THQ is the publisher which gives money to the developer Relic. I know that relic needs to go through THQ in order to get an 'OK' to make changes to game play and whatnot. I am happy that relic supports the game with releasing as many patches as they have. I know relic online is new but its as if relic online didn't do an ounce of research and did no planning for the future. They could have simply copied what blizzard did and everyone would have been happy. The fact that it took so god damn long for relic to figure out that they needed a team to release hot fixes is just ignorant. There were a ton of bugs that took a month to fix. Most of them are gone now. The thing that most companies do is wait for an expansion so that they can make more money and at the same time fix all the problems with the current game. What I love about everyone is that they simply accept this. So you paid for a game where the company that created it had really no plan to support the game properly and hired a terrible balance team and then you have to pay them again for to fix everything that they should have 3 months ago. But every company does this right, its just the way it is, right. Well it doesn't have to be. Most consumers just buy anything and the game companies rely on this so that they can do shoddy support and still make money in the expansions. Blizzard thinks ahead, Relic does not. If a company does not adequately support a game why reward the company with buying more games from them? This is how EA got so big. Stupid people get dumped on by the support of the games and then they go ahead and buy the next game released. This is how bad companies stay in business. But again, you an always count on enough idiots out there to buy a product to keep a company in business as long as it looks good. I know this is a problem with the game industry in general, but damn, it shouldn't be this way. There should be a standard of release a good game, support it very well, the consumers are happy and want to buy the next game you release.

Anyway do your rant bridger, if you can teach me something I don't know then my hat will be off to you.

lol Ewy, you're not wrong, i feel the same way when i hear people talking about bugs in COH, i just think about all the bugs that were in and still are in BF2.

EA do indeed suck

the ONLY thing that bothers me in coh is before i even start the game, the multiplayer interface.
i hate how it never shows the Ping of any host until you actually join, i have to guess what games are hosted in the UK (which usually isn't a lot) i end up on a japanese or US server grrr

and hovering over a server to see who's in the game and what rank they are etc, and the bloody thing refreshes, so i'm all of a sudden hovering over another server grr grr.

Apart from that i don't notice the in game bugs (i don't play too often tbh tho so maybe that's why)
