Listening to the podcast right now.
Around the 59-minute mark there’s talk about the Tiger/Pershing being to cost-effecient.

Just wanna share my opinion on the subject.
I totally agree that they are way to cost effecient. I have never had a situation where I’d rather want two Shermans rather than one Pershing. And by choosing the Pershing I even save my fuel for a supporting Croc (when I get additional manpower for that).
And whoever want’s to build a Panther when you can just wait a little while longer to get a way more powerfull Tiger with no fuel-cost whatsoever (you want to spend the fuel on veterancy upgrades instead)?

    It’s just off balance.

What i’m suggesting is kinda like how it is with 88s and howitzer. When you get enough CPs for any off-map unit (Rangers, Stürms, Tigers, Callilopes, etc.) and you buy that power, you simply get the abillity to now build that unit in the appropriate building (eg. Rangers in Barracks, Stürms in Kriegbarracks, Tigers in Panzer Command etc.)
Airborne company and off-map combat group should be the only exception (and perhaps Tiger Ace?).

By doing this you’ll now force people to tech up to get the almighty doctrine-specific units. It would now also take some time to build and an added fuel-cost would make them less cost efficient.
Also by doing so, the off-map combat group will now also be buffed, since you’ll be able to get vehicles without any fuel-cost, unlike any other company/doctrine (except perhaps the Tiger Ace).

I’m not sure how the Tiger Ace should fit in with these changes. I think it should stay the way it is (with perhaps a small man-power increase). anyhow, it should very well increase the value of the Terror-doctrine, since the can get an instant Tiger Ace free of any fuel-charge.

    what do you think?

About showing a good example of the 5% bug to Buggo, the recent silver replay of Khem vs. Challengerli really shows it. I counted 11 hits on Khem’s 5% health Tiger. Though not all of them were penetrating shots, it was quite ridiculous.

like the comment about the wrist action. That’s perhaps the best quote!

  24. Spliced Says:

Constructive criticism to Relic about CoH is one of the most important parts of this show. I believe that ToH has compiled a well-rounded list of the problems, small and large, that still haunt this game as it approaches its first anniversary. In this respect, I have a recommendation:

RELIC EMPLOYEES MIGHT WANT TO LISTEN TO THE LAST HALF OF THIS SHOW

In addition to compiling “Vitensby’s List,” our hosts provide a number of interesting possilibities to solve these problems. Which will work out best and will we have the chance to see them in action? The build time for off-map units (and AWM units too maybe?) seem to have the most promise. Obviously, you guys have put some time into thinking about these things.

In terms of highlights outside of the big section at the end, I can name a few classic moments.

In the first section, Bridger describes a list of “Micro Tips” that is detailed to the extreme about controlling CoH units. It includes many keyboard short cuts and ideas for using them. Bridger asks Vit about his use of the Shift-key and Vit responds in a classic ToH moment:

“You could do all this or you could eat your Wheaties in the morning, no endorsement there, and use the Mouse and Arrow Keys…”

This one sentance statement rebuts the last five minutes of Bridger’s suggestions, but brings to light one of the great conflicts in computer interface: there are many ways to interact. I love the silence after this statement, btw. Very funny. Despite this turnabout, Bridger, always the good sport, plays this for laughs for the rest of the show, faux-mocking Vit’s eliteness.

Another fine example of ToH humor was the comment in the 26th minute where Bridger concludes his summary of a detailed Allied Armour Speed thread and Vit responds with a long sigh, saying, “Looks like we’re going to have to completely rebalance the game!”

Another funny quote is at 41:50 where Vit says “The 5% bug… The worst of the worst.” Ha!

Well done. I was wrong before about there being a guest on this show, even though it felt like there was. The Relic Balance Team might as well have been sitting in though, at least for the end. I feel that I would have given this a lower score, despite its necessity to inform, if it wasn’t for you guys doing such a grand job in presentation and advice. This was a solid 8. Worth listening to if you care about changes to the meta-game or if you want to improve your skills as someone new (in the beginning). A nice look at Airborne too.
